Miraculous Fulfillments of Scripture

This sermon presents how Christ is the center of all Scripture and how prophecies are fulfilled through Him. The message focuses especially on the prophecy of Seventy Weeks (490 years) in Daniel 9:24-27, explaining three periods: 7 weeks, 62 weeks, and the final week, while connecting historical events with prophetic messages.
The opening section establishes the principle that all of Scripture testifies to Christ. Through the citation from Luke 4:17-21, Jesus reads Isaiah 61:1 and declares that the words have been fulfilled today, proving that ancient prophecies all point to Him. John 5:39 and 5:46 emphasize that Scripture bears witness to Christ, and if one believes Moses, one must also believe Christ because Moses wrote about Him.
The second section develops details about the prophecy of Seventy Weeks in Daniel 9:24-27. The word "week" in Hebrew means a period of seven, so 70 weeks equals 490 years. These seventy weeks are divided into three periods: 7 weeks (49 years), 62 weeks (434 years), and 1 final week (7 years). The first and second periods together equal 483 years, counted from the decree of King Artaxerxes to rebuild and restore Jerusalem (445 BC according to Nehemiah 2:5-8) until the Anointed One appears (approximately 27-30 AD), the very period of Jesus Christ.
The third section explains the purpose of the Seventy Weeks: to finish transgression, bring an end to sin, make atonement for iniquity, bring in everlasting righteousness, fulfill vision and prophecy, and anoint the Most Holy. After sixty-two weeks, the Anointed One will be cut off, yet not for Himself—this is the fulfillment of Jesus's redemptive death. In 70 AD, Jerusalem and the temple were completely destroyed, executing the prophecy of desolation.
The final section applies the prophetic message to the congregation's understanding of God's salvation plan. By tracing historical timelines and connecting them to prophecy, believers see that God completely controls history and the work of salvation has been fulfilled through Christ. This strengthens faith that Scripture is God's trustworthy Word, and all prophecies will be fulfilled precisely according to His plan.
