Hope at the Cross

This sermon presents the significance of Christ's Cross as the center of Christian hope. Through passages from Romans 5 and 1 Corinthians 1, the pastor demonstrates that God manifested unconditional love by giving His Son to die in place of sinful humanity.
The opening section of the sermon affirms that the Cross is not a random event but the divinely appointed death of Christ for sinners. Through Romans 5:6-10, the pastor emphasizes that God demonstrated His love toward us when we were weak and sinful. This atonement differs from human understanding, because it is rare for anyone to die for the righteous, yet Christ died for us.
The second section develops why the Cross is necessary. The sermon explains three key points: every transgression carries a corresponding price, no transformative love avoids demanding sacrifice, and no one can boast. The pastor cites 1 Corinthians 1:27-29 to prove that God chose the foolish, weak, and despised things to shame the wise, strong, and honored. By this means, no one can boast before God, because salvation is entirely God's work through Christ.
The third section applies the message of the Cross to the congregation's actual life. Understanding that Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us (Galatians 3:13), Christians are called to glory only in the Cross, only in the crucified Christ. Through Galatians 6:14, the world has been crucified to us, and we to the world. The sermon concludes that the true hope of Christians lies not in worldly wisdom or power, but in Christ's Cross, where God revealed unconditional love and perfect justice.
