How one ends matters more than how one begins, as exemplified by Demas and Mark; there will be times of opposition or abandonment in serving Christ, just as Paul faced Alexander's attacks and his first trial. Mature leaders must identify, train, and equip Timothys to continue God's work; forgiveness is essential even when abandoned by all, trusting that God still helps, strengthens, and delivers from all evil. Finally, even Paul needed the presence, encouragement, and support of fellow believers because no one can do everything alone, and we need one another to share the burden of God's work together.
