The Ministry of Reconciliation

The sermon addresses three fundamental questions about reconciliation between humanity and God through Christ. The world needs reconciliation because sin has broken all relationships between people and God, and Christ is the only bridge to restore this relationship. Believers are called as ambassadors of reconciliation with the responsibility to share the message of salvation with all people.
The sermon begins by explaining why the world needs reconciliation with God. Although God created a vast universe with billions of galaxies and countless celestial bodies, the pinnacle of creation is humanity. Before sin entered the world, humans had harmonious relationships with all creation, with each other, and especially with God—they walked with Him in the Garden of Eden. However, sin completely shattered these relationships, creating doubt, concealment, discord, conflict, and separation between humans and God. Scripture clearly affirms that sin separates people from God, like a deep chasm that cannot be crossed.
The second part of the sermon presents how humans can be reconciled with God. Between heaven and earth lies an immeasurable river that no human merit or charitable work can cross. This is the most important difference between the Gospel and all other religions: while other religions teach that humans must actively strive to live righteously, the Gospel teaches that there is only one path provided by God Himself—through Christ. Jesus came into the world, died on the cross, and paid the price of sin to restore the relationship between humans and God. Christ alone is the bridge that reconnects us, the only Mediator between God and humanity, and apart from Him there is no other way, path, or name by which we can be saved.
The third part addresses the ministry of reconciliation for believers. According to the apostle Paul's teaching, Christians are ambassadors of God, sent to represent Him and fulfill the mission of reconciliation. Just as an ambassador must be completely faithful to the king, represent the nation, and seek to bring peace between nations, believers must live respectably as the face and voice of God in the world. Their primary responsibility is to help those who do not yet know God to be reconciled with Him by sharing the message of salvation. The motivating force is not compulsion but an awareness of the love that Christ has shown for all humanity.
The sermon emphasizes that believers differ from followers of other religions in that they do not withdraw from the world but engage it, living in the world without allowing worldly corruption to defile their spiritual life. Because Jesus Himself entered the world, coming from heaven into darkness and sin, suffering rejection and crucifixion on the cross, humanity now has the opportunity to be saved and accepted into God's kingdom. Therefore, believers must follow Christ's example, willing to sacrifice and give up personal interests for the sake of God's glory and name in order to proclaim the message of reconciliation to all people.
