The Bridge To Life

The opening of the sermon establishes the central problem: sin separates humanity from God. According to Isaiah 59:2, people's sins create a division and cause God to turn His face away and not hear their pleas. This depicts the desperate state of mankind separated from the Holy God.

The second section develops the argument that all people will be judged by God because of sin's corruption. Romans 3:23-24 affirms that all have sinned and fall short of God's glory. However, this section also introduces hope: although humans deserve judgment, God in His grace still provides the opportunity to be justified through redemption in Christ. Romans 5:8 beautifully illustrates God's limitless love as He willingly gave His Son to die for people while they were still sinners.

The third section proclaims that Jesus Christ is the only bridge to eternal life. Acts 4:12 confirms that salvation is found in no other, and John 14:6 records Jesus saying, "I am the way and the truth and the life." The sermon emphasizes the uniqueness and necessity of believing in Jesus Christ to be reconciled with God. John 3:16 summarizes the Gospel message: God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

The fourth section applies the message to the congregation's real context. 2 Corinthians 5:19 states that God reconciled the world to Himself in Christ, no longer counting people's sins against them, and gave believers the message of reconciliation to share. The sermon concludes with hope of resurrection: 1 Corinthians 15:52-53 promises that the dead will be raised imperishable and be transformed, encouraging believers to enter into the salvation relationship with Christ.
