Four Great Blessings from God

The sermon is based on Romans 8, one of the most precious passages of Scripture, and presents four absolute assurances for God's people. These assurances cannot be changed or lost by any disease, plague, or failure. However, all four assurances have a condition: the recipient must be a child of God and must truly accept Jesus Christ as their Savior.

The first assurance is that there is no condemnation. Those who have accepted Christ will no longer fear punishment for sin, whether past, present, or future sins. The blood of Christ shed on the cross has paid the debt of sin for every believer. Believers are declared righteous and reconciled with God. The second assurance is that we receive intercession. Not only do fellow believers and spiritual leaders pray for us, but the Holy Spirit and Christ Himself are always interceding for us in every circumstance. The Holy Spirit intercedes with groaning that cannot be expressed when we do not know what to pray for.

The third assurance is about God's love that nothing can separate. Everyone desires to be accepted and loved, because without love people become cold, selfish, and even wicked. Human love is usually conditional, based on beauty, talent, or wealth. But Scripture teaches that God loves us while we are still sinners, and Christ died for our sins. Once saved, nothing from within our lives or from external circumstances can separate God's love from us. Even if we commit sin, go astray, or abandon God, these things cannot cause God to stop loving us if He has chosen to save us.

The fourth assurance is that all things work together for good for those who love God. All things include both good and bad circumstances, both gains and losses. This assurance is highly practical as it resolves the tension between God's sovereignty and human responsibility. The sermon illustrates that although God has predetermined the outcome, our choices and actions are still important and necessary. Believers should not become passive or pessimistic, but should act wisely, trusting that all things will work together for good.
