# Reverend George Müller (1805–1898)
Reverend George Müller was known as a prayer warrior who founded orphanages and actively preached about the urgent need to send missionaries throughout the world. During his lifetime, through the orphanages he operated in England, he cared for more than 10,000 children. He played a key role in promoting the concept of "faith missions"—a model in which missionaries receive no support from any particular denomination but are supported by individuals and churches. He held an absolute conviction in the principle of never asking anyone for help; instead, he placed complete trust in God—that He would move the hearts of many people to voluntarily meet the needs of missionaries.(1)
We thank the Lord for using a minister of absolute faith in God's provision; a heart of love and service to the weak; and a life of persistent prayer in Him. God's Word also teaches His people that they must possess these three qualities.
First, there must be absolute faith in God's provision. Reverend Müller championed the concept of "faith missions" and held the absolute conviction that one should never ask anyone for help; instead, he placed complete trust in God, trusting that He Himself would work in the hearts of believers and churches, encouraging them to serve together and support missionaries. God's Word teaches us to always trust in Him, and He will provide all our needs: "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matthew 6:33). King David also urged his people, "Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this" (Psalm 37:5). The Apostle Paul shared this same faith with Reverend Müller when he said, "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). The letter to the Hebrews also affirms that "Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him" (Hebrews 11:6).
The second quality is a life of persistent prayer and spiritual discipline. Reverend Müller was a prayer warrior. He recorded approximately 50,000 prayers that God answered for him over the course of 40 years of ministry. This reflects a heart in intimate communion with God and obedient to His Word. "Pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Jesus said, "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you" (John 15:7). Indeed, Reverend Müller's life of prayer stands as a living witness to abiding in Christ and trusting in Him.
The third quality is a heart of love and service to others. Reverend Müller established and operated orphanages in England, caring for more than 10,000 children. He truly followed God's Word which teaches: "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world" (James 1:27); "Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done" (Proverbs 19:17); and as Jesus said, "Whatever you did for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me" (Matthew 25:40). To serve others is to serve God, and to love God is to love others!
Let us begin with firm faith, rooted in Jesus Christ; let us live in spiritual discipline—always seeking God's will through prayer, in intimate communion with Him; and by God's strength, may we live to please Him, serving others, especially those in need. May the Lord increase our faith, help us always trust in His power to do all things; so that we may faithfully accomplish God's work abundantly, help those in need—both in body and spirit—and bring them to know God and receive Him as the Savior of their souls! Amen!
