This devotion uses the FDA peanut butter recall discovery of plastic fragments as a spiritual lesson about God's warnings in our spiritual lives. The author emphasizes that small, seemingly harmless things like bad habits, negative thoughts, or unhealthy relationships silently damage our spiritual health, just as hidden plastic pieces contaminate food. We must be vigilant, guard our hearts, and completely remove all impurity to live holy lives pleasing to God.

# Peanut Butter Recall - Dispose Immediately

On February 17, 2026, information was released regarding a recall of peanut butter products. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that over 20,000 peanut butter products sold across 40 states have been recalled. Ventura Foods LLC issued a recall of three peanut butter products in April 2025 after discovering blue plastic fragments in the production filter. The FDA classified the recall on February 12, 2026, as a Class II safety risk, meaning consumption of these products could result in "temporary or reversible adverse health consequences," according to FDA network information.

According to this recall notice, the following products are affected:

- Creamy peanut butter in 0.5 oz, 0.75 oz, and 1.12 oz packages - Creamy peanut butter with grape jelly in 2.12 oz packages - Creamy peanut butter with strawberry jam in 2.12 oz packages

The products are sold under multiple brand names including US Foods, DYMA Brands, Flavor Fresh, Gordon Food Service, and Sysco House Recipe, according to the FDA.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advises consumers to check their pantries. If you have any peanut butter packages, do not consume products in this Class II recall and dispose of them immediately. If you are uncertain about the source of the product, it should be discarded to ensure health safety.

It is surprising that peanut butter—a beloved food of millions of Americans—could be harmful to health and require immediate disposal! Foods we consider ordinary and delicious, which we never suspect or pay attention to, can suddenly become hazardous and require immediate removal. This reality also frequently occurs in our spiritual lives. When we come into contact with many different people, hear many news reports and events, and do not consider them carefully, certain things in life may appear harmless—a small habit, a negative thought, a tiny "compromise," an unhealthy relationship, and so on—yet they silently damage our spiritual well-being. We do not immediately see the consequences, but they are quietly stealing away our peace, our holiness, and our communion with God.

God's Word reminds us, "Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life" (Proverbs 4:23). Guarding our hearts means not only protecting ourselves from obvious evils, but being vigilant and carefully considering the things that are "small yet dangerous." The apostle Peter also warns us, "Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour" (1 Peter 5:8). The spiritual enemy is the most dangerous because we cannot see it; it is cunning and lurking to lure us into the trap of sin. Yet on the other hand, God's Holy Spirit is always watchful and shows us what is not good. He does not teach us to live only slightly holy and then stop; rather, He wants us to completely remove all that is unclean and contrary to God's Word. Just as the FDA advised: "If you are uncertain about the source of the product, it should be discarded to ensure health safety."

Breaking away decisively from sin is a spiritual responsibility of every Christian, and God's warning is a blessing that helps His people live holy lives. "So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (James 4:7). God loves us, so He must remind us, warn us, and protect us from things that harm our spiritual well-being. God's Word through the apostle Paul warns us: "And now I make one more appeal, my dear brothers and sisters. Watch out for people who cause divisions and upset people's faith by teaching things contrary to what you have been taught. Stay away from them" (Romans 16:17); "Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires. Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God" (Romans 6:12-13).

With grateful hearts toward God and His great sacrifice on the cross, we must wholeheartedly live holy lives and remove everything unclean, even if it seems small, harmless, and displeasing to no one—yet it still does not please God. Let us learn and faithfully follow God's Word: "Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, now that you have had a taste of the Lord's kindness. You are coming to Christ, who is the living cornerstone of God's temple. He was rejected by people, but he was chosen by God for great honor. And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What's more, you are his holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God" (1 Peter 2:2-5).

We thank God because He always loves us, watches over us, and is vigilant against the invisible traps of sin lurking to harm us! Please open the eyes of our hearts to always be vigilant, to learn and live according to God's Word, and to always trust in His absolute power to help us overcome the forces of evil that lie in wait to harm us! May our lives always glorify God's Name and manifest His cross-shaped love, and may we be channels of blessing to all around us so they may know and accept Jesus Christ as the Savior of their souls! Amen!

*Thank You, God, our loving Teacher,* *That each day we live more holy,* *Meditating on Your Word, living faith steadfastly,* *By Your Light guiding our path and strengthening us!*

*Praise God, for You are our Source of Power,* *We rejoice, sanctified each moment,* *Our hearts at peace, following You each day,* *We remain faithful, our steps unwavering!*
