Psalm 72:18Psalm 89:11Psalm 18:13Psalm 33:6Psalm 19:1Psalm 107:8Psalm 96:11James 1:2-3James 1:12Ephesians 6:12-13Psalm 66:10

This devotional reflects on how the formation of Cape Greco sea caves through millennia of waves and wind erosion parallels the Christian journey through trials and testing for spiritual growth. The author encourages believers to view difficulties as opportunities to strengthen their faith, equip themselves with God's armor against dark forces, and become heroes of faith who glorify God's name.

# Sea Caves of Cape Greco in Cyprus

Cyprus, officially known as the Republic of Cyprus, is an island nation in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, located off the coast of the Levant in Western Asia.(1) Here you will find the Sea Caves of Cape Greco, one of the most renowned natural attractions of this island nation. They are situated within Cape Greco National Park, between Ayia Napa and Protaras, distinguished by towering cliffs, crystal-clear seawater, and a wondrous and fascinating system of sea caves. At this location, the sea caves offer spectacular views overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, with jagged, pale cliffs in striking contrast to the brilliant azure waters, especially at dawn and sunset. These sea caves were formed over millennia by wind and erosion from the sea acting upon the limestone cliffs. Ocean waves continuously crashed in, and the wearing action of the wind gradually eroded the soft limestone cliffs. Through this process of constant wave impact and wind erosion, the soft limestone cliffs were slowly worn away. Over many centuries, they helped form stone arches, caves, and rock formations shaped in truly impressive ways!(2)

We give thanks to God, for He is the Creator, who has given us humans such wondrous, abundant, and good nature! Great seas, caves with many fascinating shapes, places for us to visit, to see, and to appreciate the beauty of creation! "Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, to him alone who does marvelous things" (Psalm 72:18). "The heavens are yours, and yours also the earth; you founded the world and all that is in it" (Psalm 89:11). "The Lord thunders from heaven; the voice of the Most High resounds. He unleashes his lightning bolts and scatters them" (Psalm 18:13). "By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth" (Psalm 33:6). "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands" (Psalm 19:1). "Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind" (Psalm 107:8). "Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it" (Psalm 96:11).

These natural sea caves must go through a long period of "testing—erosion and wearing away" caused by ocean waves and wind. The Christian life is the same; we must go through a time of testing, refining, and equipping so that we become useful instruments for God's work. As God's Word encourages His people in the book of James regarding trials, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance" (James 1:2-3); "Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him" (James 1:12).

To stand firm in trials and resist the powers of darkness that trouble us, we must equip ourselves with all the armor of God: "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand" (Ephesians 6:12-13). Indeed, the enemy is always prowling about, setting traps to lead us away from God. But if we equip ourselves fully with all the armor of God, we will always triumph over the forces of darkness in this world, weather life's storms, and become heroes of faith—shining the Gospel to help many people come to know God's Name!

We thank God, "For you, God, tested us; you refined us like silver" (Psalm 66:10), so that our faith may grow, equipping us to do God's work in the very best way, pleasing God and glorifying His Name! We ask for the victorious power of Jesus Christ to strengthen us, always ready to face trials and difficulties; we ask that we may rejoice in trials, knowing that this is part of our journey following Christ, His refining of us, helping us to persevere and courageously proclaim the Gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ at all times and in all places to all people, until the day Jesus Christ returns, for He has already conquered the world! Amen!

We thank You, God, Almighty, Eternal One, You remain ever present, performing wonders, Though countless storms may come, You are always at my side each day!

Though trials come, they cannot shake me, Firm in faith, I follow You, Jesus Christ, holy and true, Your commands, Your will I do each day!

Though I must cross mountains and seas, Climb high peaks, still I press on with resolve, Sickness, sorrow will not dissolve My courage, yet I wait for You!

You refine my hands and body, Fashioning me in Your design, To serve You—oh, what divine Glory to Your Name in this life and beyond...

O Your love, there are no words enough, Your power is woven through my days, I desire nothing but Your grace, To be a vessel of Your gifts!
