Nature's Beauty - A Source of Happiness and Hope from God

This devotion reminds us that the beauty of nature is a symbol of God's care and love for humanity. By contemplating the beauty of nature, we are encouraged spiritually and reassured by God's promise that He is always with us and protects us from all life's difficulties.
# The poem "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud" (or "Daffodils") was written by the poet William Wordsworth. This is one of his most famous works. The poem consists of 4 stanzas, each with 6 lines, for a total of 24 lines. Here are the first 6 lines of the first stanza:
"I wandered lonely as a cloud That floats on high o'er vales and hills, When all at once I saw a crowd, A host of golden daffodils; Beside the lake, beneath the trees, Fluttering and dancing in the breeze."
This famous poem was inspired by a walk along the shore of Ullswater, shared by the poet Wordsworth and his sister Dorothy, on April 15, 1802. In the poem, the author has "personified" himself, comparing himself to a natural object—a cloud. The golden daffodils are continuously personified as human beings, "fluttering and dancing in the breeze"—these movements imply an inherent unity between humanity and nature. The poet wrote this poem to celebrate the beauty of the daffodils on the hillside as they dance beneath the sunlight; and it is precisely the beauty of nature, of the golden daffodils, that has drawn the human being, the author himself, to unite with nature and find greater joy and happiness. Therefore, the golden daffodil is regarded as a symbol of happiness.
Beautiful nature always affects the human spirit, doesn't it?! Hippocrates, the ancient Greek physician whom many consider to be one of the greatest figures in medical history, from the island of Cos, once said, "Nature itself is the best physician." This saying means that nature itself, all things within it, can help people fight against suffering and disease. With this understanding, we must praise God, honor His wondrous wisdom, because God created the natural world for people to live in joy and contentment. We must also thank God because He always cares for, loves, and thinks of the necessary needs of us people!
Each day, we need to step outside into our gardens, look around at nature's scenery, at flowers and trees, look up at the blue sky, at white clouds drifting overhead, listen to birds singing and calling to one another somewhere, the whisper of leaves talking to each other, the meows of stray cats searching for food, the chirping and singing of insects somewhere... All these things and activities around us should also uplift our spirits, because through them, we come to know that, "God truly exists—the Creator, the One who is near us, and with God protecting us, who else need we fear?" King David praised God, for He who kept him through all the changes of life, in Psalm 23 ("The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever").
God's Word tells us that God is faithful, always with us, and protects us from all life's difficulties! We must always remember God's promises: "God is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one" (2 Thessalonians 3:3); "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand" (Isaiah 41:10).
Thank God for creating nature full of goodness for us! Praise the Almighty God, there is none like Him, He is the One whom all people must fear and worship! We pray that the faithful God will help us to open our eyes and hearts to look upon His rich and beautiful nature, to behold a joyful and happy landscape, so that our spirits may be encouraged, we remain faithful to follow Him, live in gladness, and share the Gospel with all those around us! Amen!
Nature's majesty, from God's hand, Created for us day by day, Happiness and joy without a care, Because God never fades away!
Golden daffodils bright, strength anew, Forests, mountains, flowers of this world, Truly worthy of praise and thanks, Your glory, Father, and power untold!
