The article explores the difference between scientific knowledge and true understanding of God. Rather than seeking excessive knowledge, we should focus on understanding God first, for the fear of the Lord is the beginning of true knowledge. When we seek God's will and know Him better, we will live with contentment, happiness, and lasting blessings.
# Lesson 15 Understanding
Ecclesiastes 1:9 - "What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun."
Science today has advanced far beyond where it was ten years ago. People can now think of, create, and successfully accomplish almost anything! However, some scientists have asked themselves: "Is it truly good to know everything in this world?" While others believe: "Perhaps it would be better for humanity if we did not know certain things!"
Must we know everything, or should we only know what we need to know? For example, we do not need to know how to create poisons harmful to people, nor listen to others' private matters, nor go to places where we know temptation awaits us... Rather, it is better that we know what brings benefit to others as well as to ourselves, what brings true happiness, what brings peace among people... According to Ecclesiastes 1:9, "What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun." King Solomon tells us that all things under heaven already exist; God has already created everything. We are simply coming to understand it gradually. Therefore, if we can come to know the Creator and understand who He is, then we will truly know all that He has planned for us from the beginning, is that not so?
Wisdom begins with the recognition of God, because "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction" (Proverbs 1:7). Therefore, we need not search far and wide for useless, excessive knowledge. Rather, we must first seek to know the Lord, and He will open our hearts and minds so that we may know how to live contentedly and in lasting happiness... We pray that the Lord will always watch over us and help us walk always beside Him, seek His will, and know Him ever more deeply, so that we may live contentedly and abundantly in the blessings He bestows upon us! Amen!
The Lord is knowledge from the beginning, Those who fear Him are rich with His grace! The foolish know nothing more, They scorn instruction and carelessly pass it by!
