# Lesson 14 Running from God Cannot Escape the Sun

"The sun rises from one end of the heavens and completes its journey across the sky to the other end. Nothing can hide from its heat." - Psalm 19:6

One of the common Vietnamese proverbs we have is, "Running from God cannot escape the sun." This proverb teaches us two things: First, if we commit sin, we must suffer punishment and make restitution to those we have wronged; we cannot escape the consequences we have caused. Second, throughout our lives we will encounter both fortune and misfortune; we cannot avoid suffering that lies ahead. No matter where we flee or how remote a place we hide in, these things will still come to us, just as the sun shines across the entire world. So no matter where we run, the sun will still reach us. King David affirmed this truth when he spoke of the sun's activity, saying, "The sun rises from one end of the heavens and completes its journey across the sky to the other end. Nothing can hide from its heat" (Psalm 19:6). Therefore, it is best for us to face the circumstances that come upon us—whether we have caused them or whether life has brought them to us. We must confront our problems and find ways to solve them rather than run away, because sooner or later they will catch up with us. What is important is that if we know how to trust in the infinite power of our Creator to help and guide us, then we have nothing to fear as we run from difficulties and hardships in this earthly life!

Psalm 19:1 says, "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands." King David had to write these words to praise the Lord and declare the infinite power of God—the One who created the universe in such a marvelous way, with day and night, mountains and rivers, clouds in the sky, birds and fish, insects, flowers and grains, vast oceans, the expanse that separates the waters, the sun and moon orbiting the earth. All of these things declare God's great and supernatural work, do they not? Then is there anything that God cannot do? Truly, there is not, because God can do all things! If we recognize that God is Almighty, what should we fear or worry about that cannot be solved? When we face seemingly unsolvable problems according to our limited understanding, we should remember that God is very near us and He is ready to listen to our pleas and requests for help! As one who has lived through a life full of hardships and dangers, who was almost killed while being hunted by King Saul, King David, the forefather of Jesus, has advised us, "Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord" (Psalm 27:14). Likewise, in his letter to the Hebrews, the apostle Paul wrote, "Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need" (Hebrews 4:16). Indeed, let us always trust in and draw closer to God so that He may help us overcome life's difficulties! We pray that Almighty God will grant us the wisdom to recognize that He alone is the One who will solve our difficulties and hardships in life, and that He will give us constant and steadfast confidence in His absolute power! Amen!

Though life is full of hardships, With God beside us, nothing matters!

The heavens are vast and boundless, From west the sun races to east all around, Wherever you go, remember to turn, For the Lord is always near beside you! All things both great and small, near and far, Cannot hide from our compassionate Father, In wisdom do not hesitate, But come to the Throne of Grace, abundant with blessings!

The Lord always cares and guards, Trust wholeheartedly, fulfill the Father's will, God's kingdom is glorious and vast, Praise the love of Jesus for us forever! Though life brings adversity, Through trials and tests, we lift our prayers, He gives us new strength and peace, Omniscient, omnipresent, Holy Spirit's power! First ponder His word carefully, Listen attentively to God's teaching and guidance, Our ship is safe amid the seas, Rejoicing to proclaim the Grace of Jesus!
